Have you ever read a book that would change your whole perspective over a situation? Have you ever seen someone battling to stay alive? A inspiring, yet heart rendering, story of illness, family and friendship that’s exactly what the novel Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick is about.

"Thirteen-year-old Steven has a totally normal life: he plays drums in the All-Star Jazz band, has a crush on ... girl in the school, and is constantly annoyed by his five-year-old brother, Jeffrey. But when Jeffrey is diagnosed with leukemia, Steven's world is turned upside down. He is forced to deal with his brother's illness and his parents' attempts to keep the family in one piece."
(Google Book Summary)

The book largely focuses on a heartwarming journey through a year in the life of a family in crisis. It is book all of can relate to even though we might not have someone who is close to us that is diagnosed with leukemia. Drum, Girls, and Dangerous Pie portrays a sense of bravery and affection. What Steven does at the end, is something that most of us wouldn't be willing to do.

Sounds like a book I would be into. I'm not into 'love' books or disease, but I would love to read what will happen with his life. Will it end up good? What will happen in the way? So much questions of suspense lol. I'll search it in my school library, maybe ask my parents if I or they can check it out from our Public Library if they have it. If it has an i pact on a person's life, I would love to read it. Although I am told to be the sensitive type, about others and myself, so yeah. Thanks for sharing BasketballLuver.

I understand what you are trying to say. It actually doesn't really focus largely on the romance at all. It is only little snippets of it and they aren't even really big. They are just their to show the true supportive feeling and so on. It does help you get a better idea of Leukemia, but it isn't like a whole non-fiction account of it. I am not very sensitive and am not very emotional when it comes to book so I only cried once when I read this very simple book and it was very surprising. =]

But like they say, you can't judge a book by it's cover!
But, your what talking about isn't about the cover though...
